A MESSAGE FROM JOHN

I would like to thank the many volunteers that circulated petitions to get my name placed on the ballot for 45th Ward Committeeman. Together we collected more than 1,300 signatures, almost two and a half times the amount required!

We will now begin to develop our campaign and talk about remaking the 45th Ward Democratic Organization. This effort started almost two years ago when I announced my run for alderman. You responded and we won the seat. Over the past eight months, we have reinvented the ward office as an open and accessible resource for all residents and businesses. Now I ask that you stand with me to bring that same thoughtful and inclusive approach to our ward organization.

You may have heard this from me, or a volunteer, at your door while we were collecting signatures. It is time to build not just a precinct, but a service organization. This organization will be a powerful tool to address the issues and improve our ward. At its core, politics is about people and communication. We will create a forum of ideas and tap into the creativity and energy that resides in our communities. We will seek out and mentor progressive candidates for office at the county and state level. Fiscal responsibility and social progress will be our standards.

Again, I thank you for the faith you have bestowed upon me. The time is here for us to work side-by-side to realize our vision of what this ward should be and to set a new standard for those who represent our interests in government.
