The Chicago Board of Elections offers early voting for the March 20 primary from February 27 through March 15. Registered voters may vote at any of the 51 voting locations across the city, but they must present a government-issued photo ID to do so.

While polling places are scattered throughout the city, here are a few early voting locations 45th Ward residents may find more convenient. Each of the following locations is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday from February 27 through March 15.

Absentee voting

If you would like to request an absentee ballot, download this form and return it to the Chicago Board of Elections by March 15. However, the board warns voters to request a ballot well ahead of this deadline and to use express mail to minimize mailing delays.

A little over a week ago, the Chicago City Council voted 41-8 to approve a new map for Chicago's 50 Wards. Despite the fact that the 45th Ward boundaries were not dramatically affected by the new map, John stood up against what he called “the procedural jockeying used to bring about a vote on this map” and voted no, along with seven other aldermen.

This isn’t just about a collection of shifting boundaries; this is about responsive leadership.

As part of their endorsement process, the Independent Voters of Illinois/Independent Precinct Organization required candidates to complete an extensive questionnaire.  The following are John Arena’s answers to some of those questions that earned him IVI/IPO’s endorsement. John’s answers to the complete questionnaire are also available online.

It's a first for Chicago—all neighborhood libraries are now closed every Monday. Ald. John Arena joins Elizabeth Brackett's panel to talk about why, how and if it could change on Chicago Tonight.
